The Last Cowboy

After the Wild Wild West came to an end in the late 1880's, a myriad of pilgrims made their way across the Rocky Mountains to the Sierra Mountains (snowy mountains.) Countless mountain men, cowboys and Native Americans saw this pristine location which is over 10,000 feet. Black bears and mountain lions are the sacred guardians of the area  It is 175 miles east of Yosemite, and a day's horseback ride to Mono Lake. The mountains portrayed in the photo are Ritter and the Banner Glacier. Shane and the last Star Trek movie were filmed in this area.
